Privacy Policy for Lists & Notes

Effective Date: August 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Lists & Notes ("we", "us", or "our") handles your data. By using the app, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Local Data (Room Database)

All content you create in the app — Notes, Checklists, Tags, and Colors — is stored locally on your device using a private database. If you never sign in, this data never leaves your device and we have no access to it.

Account Data (Google Sign-In via Firebase Authentication)

Signing in is optional. If you choose to sign in with Google, we use Firebase Authentication to authenticate you, which collects your name, email address, profile picture, and a unique account ID from your Google account. We use this solely to identify your account and to sync your content across your devices.

Synced Content (Cloud Firestore)

Once you sign in, your Notes and Checklists are copied to Google Cloud Firestore, a cloud database, so they can be restored if you reinstall the app or sign in on another device. This content is stored under your account and is not accessible to other users. Content created while signed out stays local-only unless you later choose to sync it after signing in.

Signing out does not delete your local or synced content — it simply stops the device from syncing until you sign in again.

2. Third-Party Data Collection

To keep the app free, we integrate the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob). This service may automatically collect and share certain data for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention purposes.

Google AdMob may access:

Both Firebase (Authentication and Firestore) and AdMob are provided by Google. For more details, please review the Google Privacy & Terms and Firebase's privacy and security page.

Your Consent Choices (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, we show a consent form — using Google's User Messaging Platform — the first time you open the app, letting you choose whether to allow personalized advertising. You can change this choice at any time from within that consent form on its next appearance, or by resetting the app's ad settings via your device's Android settings.

3. Data Retention and Deletion

You have control over your data:

4. Children’s Privacy

Our app does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account or provided personal information, we will delete it.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
